The MS Dockville Festival in Hamburg invited us to do several installations over the weekend. The large-scale projection on the “Rethespeicher” was without any doubt the eye-catcher of the five installations we did. The “Rethespeicher” has a size of around 170x75 meters, posing a perfect canvas for the artworks, which were designed to fit to the architecture.
The idea for the second largest projection was born on site, leaving only 2 days for the preparation and installation of two 10.000 Lumen projectors on top of a 30m high tower. The target was a 50m tall silo. The soft-edge projection was mapped to the convex shape to minimize perspective distortion. The animations, which could be seen perfectly from the crowd approaching the festival through the main entrance, included the line up of the festival.
The installation “Überblume” was a set of 20 artificial flowers, which served as shadow casters at daytime and as artificial suns at night. Their translucent blossom was sprayed with different colours, which revealed a variety of gradients depending on the perspective of the spectator. Because of their flexible straw they waved in the wind and softened the rigid atmosphere of the surrounding architecture. At night, 3 projectors illuminated the blossoms, highlighting the complex three dimensional structure of the mesh.
Interactive audio/visual step sequencer. programmed and installed by lichtgestalten. by placing paper objects (in this case our business cards) on the projected matrix, the spectator is able to programm rhythmic patterns. those patterns can trigger any sound you want via MIDI.
set up: projector / web cam / ableton live / max msp
For the VXK party we set up a 21x8m soft edge projection and a stage projection using our PVC-triangles. The panoramic projection was created by using two HD-projectors overlapping the middle edges of the dual setup. By using the soft edge blending technique we were able to get a smooth transition between the two projected images.
For the Redlight District Night, the demand was to integrate visuals into the existing structures of the Bix Jazzclub (Stuttgart) with as little expenses as possible. Therefore we animated a 15 minute video loop which was mapped onto the light tubes in the lobby. We divided the mapping into the background (wall) and the tubes, playing two instances of the video loop with a little time shift in between to create different compositions which randomly changed throughout the course of the event.
We are very happy to be able to support the Stuttgart based music group Eau Rouge with our visuals at their live gigs. This is a live recording of Eau Rouge playing their song “S.E.A.” at Merlin, Stuttgart. The cover artwork of their EP is printed onto a banner which we recreated for some of the animations. The animations are then mapped onto the banner to fit to the actual print. To the left and right of the banner we mapped ambient visuals onto molleton, unfortunately invisible to the cameras in this live recording. So go and see our collaboration live!http://eaurouge-music.com/
Videoinstallation at Wilhelmspalais, Stuttgart during the closing party.
Videoinstallation and live vjing - projection mapping onto an arch with 3 projectors. one additional projector was used to do a mapping onto a dodekaeder.
Videoinstallation and live vjing - projection mapping onto >100 solids (dimensions: din a6, a5, a4).
